Theory of Design- Advanced Sewing

Sewing and Design: Theory of Design
 
This is sewing class for students who have completed our beginning and Intermediate sewing class. Our Theory of Design Class is for our students that are comfortable on the sewing machine and are able to keep their seam allowance consistently. We will be moving away from "how to sew'' and focusing on how to design and create. They will continue to build their sewing skills but the perspective of the class is on the creative process of design and using our sewing skills as a tool to design. They must have a foundational skill in sewing to take this class and be at least 10 years old at the very youngest. We recommend 12 years old and older.
 
In our Theory of Design our focus is on learning the principles of design to create your own pieces made from basic shapes. Student will keep a design journal and will focus on how our clothing is created from shapes. Learning the shapes and how to use and manipulate them.
 
Students do not need to bring their machine but can choose too. Supply tools will be provided i.e scissors, rulers, needles ect.. We have fabric options for them to choose from that are included and some that are available for purchase.  Young designers may also bring their own fabric based on direction given as to the type of fabric we are working on.
 
This class is designed for tweens and teens. Ages 10 and older, Please respect our age requirement, this class is specifically designed for older kids. if you choose to enroll a child under the age of 10 with out permission, we will ask you to switch them to our beginning sewing class no refund will be given if you are unable to switch.
 
There are no make up lessons or cancellations
